Corning Community College to Host Midday Concert

CORNING, NY -- Corning Community College is pleased to host a Midday Concert Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:40 p.m. in R004 of the Learning Center building on the Spencer Hill campus in Corning, NY. The event is free and open to the public.
This hour of musical entertainment will feature CCC Vocal and Instrumental Performing Ensembles. Directed by Loueda Bleiler and Mel Williams, the Vocal Ensemble will be performing choral arrangements of folk songs, blues and spirituals. The Instrumental Ensemble will be performing several selections from the "funk" style which is strongly rooted in the traditions of R&B.
The College hosts six Midday Concerts each semester, bringing in talent from all around the region. This year’s lineup also includes:
November 1 Mansfield University Opera Workshop
Performing excerpts from The Tender Land by Aaron Copland. Directed by Todd Raney and Young Kim
November 15 Nathan Murphy, Baritone Soloist
Blaise Bryski, Piano Performing works by Dowland, Mahler, Monteverdi, and Mozart
November 29 CCC Student Recitalists
This performance will feature selections prepared by individual student recitalists who have prepared performance literature during their lessons this semester.
December 6 CCC Vocal and Instrumental Performing Ensembles
