Kathryn Saxton Kingsley Wunder, 77

Kathryn Saxton Kingsley Wunder died peacefully, Oct. 2, 2012 at the Keuka Comfort Care Home in Penn Yan at the age of 77.

Kathryn JoAnn Saxton was born Oct. 12, 1934 to Ernest and Lillian Hager Saxton in Granville Summit. Kathryn grew up with her brothers and sister on their family dairy farm and attended North Woods grade school, later graduating from Troy High School in 1952. Kathryn married Allen Kingsley of Gillette. in 1953 with whom she shared six children. Kathryn began her career as a registered nurse in 1978, retiring in 2003.

Kathryn was an active member of the Penn Yan United Methodist Church where she sang in the Memorial Choir and participated in numerous musical groups, as well as Ell-D-Van and Supper Club. She was a member of the Penn Yan Community Band and Community Chorus, and was a volunteer at the Keuka Comfort Care Home.

Kathryn's adventurous spirit led her to white water rafting down the Genesee River and camping and canoeing in the Adirondacks. She greatly enjoyed traveling extensively and went on numerous mission trips.

Those who knew Kathryn remember her to be easy-going with a cheerful smile and a warm heart-as soft as it was strong. Kathryn loved a good laugh, her sense of humor and wit evidenced by her recognizable chuckle.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Art Wunder; her children Tom (Marilyn) Kingsley, Donna (Jack) Payne, A. Scott (Coleen) Kingsley, JoAnn Kingsley, John (Chelsey) Kingsley, David (Tanya) Kingsley; step children Tom (Anne) Wunder, Nancy (Donna) Wunder and Stephen (Eileen) Wunder; sister, Lenora (Melvin) Woodard,; sisters-in-law, Kay Saxton and Ada Mae Saxton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Wayne Saxton and Stanley Saxton.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 at Weldon Funeral Home in Penn Yan. A memorial service for Kathryn will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. at Granville Center Cemetery, Granville Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathryn's memory may be made to the Penn Yan United Methodist Church, Keuka Comfort Care Home, Penn Yan Fire Department and Penn Yan Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
