Ruth J. Rought, 92, of Nichols and formerly of Binghamton, passed away on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at the Elderwood at Tioga Health Care Facility in Waverly.
She was born on Oct. 24, 1919 in Windham, a daughter of the late Byron and Frances Jacobs. Ruth was a graduate of the LeRaysville High School class of 1937 and many will remember her as a waitress at many area hotels.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Richard Rought; brother Robert Jacobs and sister Jeanne Mason. She is survived by her sister Yvonne Cole of Nichols; brothers Richard (Janice) Jacobs of Warren Center and William Jacobs of Haines City, Fla; sister-in-law Marie Jacobs of Windham; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
A period of visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Valley Home Cemetery.
