Anna Maria Zettlemoyer, 87

Anna Maria Zettlemoyer, age 87, well known area artist of Towanda, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a brief illness, with her loving family at her side.

Anna Maria was born in Rome, Italy on July 25, 1925 a daughter of the late Alberto and Adrianna Palena Mancini. She married William Raymond Tubach of Dushore in St. John's Lateran Basilica in Rome in 1947 and after his discharge from the Army, they moved to the family homestead in Colley.

Raymond predeceased her on April 8, 1955. She and her family moved to Dushore and then to Towanda. She married Earl R. Zettlemoyer of Towanda, on Oct. 17, 1964.

Anna Marie was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed being with them as often as she could. She also had a very strong will and vibrant personality which enabled her to deal with the various galleries that showed her many paintings.

Anna Maria was an accomplished artist; she had many of her oil and water color paintings in area galleries through the years. She also produced pottery in her local studio, known as "Studio Z and Gallery" in Towanda.

She attended Art College in Rome for two years and studied art at Misericordia University, Mansfield University, and Elmira College. She also taught art classes at St. Agnes School, and adult art classes in Binghamton, N.Y., Elmira, N.Y. and in Towanda. She won numerous ribbons at many American water color juried shows.

She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul's Church in Towanda, and a member of the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts where she held the honor "Artist in Residence."

Surviving are spouse Earl (Bob) Zettlemoyer, at home; she was the loving mother of five children Anna Maria (James) Glenn of Pittsburgh; Theresa (Clark) Sparrow of Towanda; Raymond W. (Cheryl) Tubach of Alpharetta, Ga., Kirsten (Scott) Taylor of Woodstock, Ga.; and Kurt (Melina) Zettlemoyer of Kennesaw, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, Lara Hoffert, Jennifer Finnerty, Rebecca Dinwoodie, C. Joshua Sparrow, Devon Sparrow, Hunter Tubach, Kyle Tubach, Tristan Tubach, Matthew Taylor, Caroline Taylor and Nicholas Zettlemoyer; four great grandchildren, Tess Hoffert, Penn Hoffert, Cleo Hoffert and Erin Finnerty; and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Mario Mancini of Rome, Italy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Towanda, with the Rev. Edward L. Michelini, her pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul's Cemetery, Towanda, at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore.

The family will provide the flowers and ask that memorial contributions be sent to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
