George Lewis Reider, 71 of Monroeton, Pa., passed away early Wednesday morning, June 20, 2012 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
George was born in Towanda, Pa., on April 3, 1941, a son of George B. and Lucy Fenner Reider. He attended the Towanda schools and was formerly employed by the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company, Roof's Beverage in Wysox and Rudy Pedro's Garage in Towanda until declining health no longer permitted him to continue. George enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and working on his vehicles.
Surviving are his children Michael Reider and wife Kathleen of Wysox, Tammy Ely and husband Jim of Owego, N.Y., Cindy Cundy and husband Lance of Vanetten, N.Y.; grandchildren Cody and Kyle Reider, Rebecca Sible and husband Mickey, Amber Benscotter and Isaiha Ely; his mother Lucy Fenner Reider of Towanda; sisters Melva Jean May and husband Kenneth of Monroeton, Shirley Ann Ball of Towanda; brothers William Reider and wife Doda Jean of Towanda, Gerald Reider of Sorrento, Fla., Ronald Reider of Towanda; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Jean Morris Reider on July 11, 1978; father George B. Reider on Nov. 13, 1995; brother-in-law John Ball and nephews Wayne May and Randy Ball.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with Rev. Thomas Geiger, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, Towanda, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Towanda, Pa.
