Edwin E. Ferry, 91, of Tinton Falls, N.J. peacefully past away at home on Monday, May 28, 2012.
Funeral is at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 1 at the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Ave., Scotch Plains. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J. Visitation is from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 at the Funeral Home.
Edwin was born in Kearny, N.J., and lived in Newark and the Union County area before retiring to Towanda in 1977. He settled to Tinton Falls, N.J. in 2002. While in the service, Edwin attended Rice University and then attended Newark College of Engineering. Edwin was a mechanical engineer for the Hyatt Roller Bearing Co. in Clark, N.J. for 32 years and retired in 1977. He was a member of the Rotary Club while living in Pennsylvania. Also, he was a mentor with the Junior Achievement program at Hyatt Roller Bearing. Edwin was a minature train and railroad enthusiast. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, boating, the organ and piano.
Edwin was in the U.S. Navy during World War II serving in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters as a radio technician second class where he served under Lt. Commander John McCain on the submarine, Duntua.
Edwin is predeceased by his brother, Stanley Ferry. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa C.; his daughter Sharon Wieczerzak; two grandchildren, Kevin Sicola and Angel Dapkins; and five great grandchildren.
