Judith "Judy" Ann (Coleman) Sargeant, 66
5/29/2012 9:35:00 AM
Judith "Judy" Ann (Coleman) Sargeant, age 66, of Wetona, went unexpectedly home to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 24, 2012.

Judy was born on July 13, 1945 in Mildred, the youngest daughter of J. Paul and Caroline (Papke) Coleman. She was a member of the last class to graduate from Turnpike High School. Judy was a graduate of Lycoming College, summa cum laude. On Oct. 2, 1968, Judy married the love of her life, Paul Sargeant, with whom she built a life and family in the beautiful village of Wetona. Judy taught second grade at Gladys Burnham School, was a lab technician ay Troy Hospital and then stayed home to raise her family and become a full-time farm wife. Her family will always remember fondly her famous Tuesday night family dinners. She was an excellent cook. In her early years, Judy was pianist for Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a charter member of Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church, where she served as church treasurer from its beginning in 1994. Her church was a second family to her and she loved to serve her Lord within that congregation of believers. She always took charge of Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts for the church and performed tirelessly many other duties behind the scenes at Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan.

Judy wrote the Wetona column for the Troy Gazette Register and Canton Independent-Sentinel for more than 20 years. She found much joy in planting and caring painstakingly for her annual flowers.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Paul Sargeant of Wetona; daughters Caroline (Adam) Hall of Troy, Heather (Steve) Moody of Wetona and Brenda (Mike) Merloe of Phoenix, Ariz.; and six grandchildren, whom she adored, Caytlyn and Lucas Nichols, Adaline Hall, and Gracie, Eli and Maya Moody. She is also survived by her brother, Luke (Pat) Coleman of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Rosenberry of Elmira, N.Y. and Lorraine (Edward) Harrington of Eldred.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Gene Coleman and brother-in-law, Ned Rosenberry.

Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Gerald W. Vickery Funeral Home Inc., 1093 Main St., Troy. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church with Reverend Lynn Ensign, her pastor and friend, officiating. Interment will follow in Wetona Cemetery.

Memorials in Judy's memory may be made to the Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 10 East Smithfield, PA 18817.
