Patricia A. Shaw, 80, of Monroeton, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Memorial Hospital, N. Towanda.
"Pat" as she was known by her family and friends was born Sept. 16, 1931 in Altoona, the daughter of Clyde and Maxine Smith McKelvey. She was a graduate of Altoona High School class of 1949. Pat moved to Liberty Corners in 1960 and later to Monroeton in 1967. Pat was employed by GTE Sylvania in Towanda for over 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Monroeton United Methodist Church, Sylvania Women's Club and the Quarter Century Club.
Surviving are her children, James "Rick" Barton of Pittsburgh, Robin Kneller of East Troy, Mike Barton and wife Denise of Moorehead City, N.C., Mark Barton and wife Sally of Monroeton and Laurie Washington and husband Ulysses of Wilmington, Del.; grandchildren Danielle Kretzer and husband Eric, Heidi Kneller, James Barton and wife Tiffany, Taylor Hugo and Mark Barton Jr.; great grandchildren Logan Barton, Blake Barton and Braeden Kretzer; a brother, Clyde R. McKelvey and wife Nancy of Michigan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her companion, Richard Williams, a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and William Jenkins, a brother, Jesse Irvin and a son-in-law, Sam Kneller.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the funeral home with the Rev. Sandy Brant, pastor of the Monroeton United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in the Monroeton Cemetery, Monroeton.
