Eleanor L. Kisner, 86, of Ulster, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2012 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Eleanor was born on Dec. 21, 1925, at home in West Burlington Twp., the daughter of John W. and Laura Campbell Ford. She attended the Luthers Mills School for 10 years and graduated from Troy High School in 1944. Eleanor began work as a housekeeper in 1942 in Athens. She later married Robert Edward Kisner on July 30, 1945 at the Luthers Mills Methodist Church. The couple resided in Smithfield Twp. for 29 years before moving to Ulster Twp. Eleanor later served as a caregiver for the elderly for 10 years. She was a very active member of the East Smithfield Methodist Church where she served as a trustee, secretary for the Ad Council for 14 years and as President of the United Methodist Women. Eleanor's devotion to the Lord was paramount in her life as she lived by the Golden Rule. She dedicated her life to assisting and caring for others.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years who was the love of her life, Robert Edward Kisner Sr.; her children and spouses, Robert E. Kisner Jr. and Linda Johnson Kisner of Ulster, Beverly Kisner Brewster and Dale Brewster of Milan, Bruce Kisner and Judy Wilson Kisner of Wyalusing and Denise Kisner Shaffer and Francis Shaffer of Towanda; grandchildren Leslie Ann ( Matthew) Patton, Sherry Diane Brewster, Robert Edward Kisner III, Kelly Lou Kisner, Andrew Wayne Kisner, Adam James Shaffer and Jason Robert Shaffer; great-grandchildren Breanna Marie Kisner, Robert Edward Kisner IV, Kaitlyn Laura Kisner, McKenna Elizabeth Patton and Delanie Anne Patton, all whom she loved dearly; a brother, Gordon (Kay) Ford of Towanda; and sisters Jane Welch of Troy, Lucelia (Harold) Trexler of Sayre and Esther Finnerty of Ulster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers John Clinton Ford and Albert Ford and sisters Dorothy Stevens and Doris Munn.
The funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, with Rev. Lavern Jackson, pastor of the East Smithfield Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Contributions may be directed to the East Smithfield Methodist Church in Eleanor's memory.
