Edward J. Lenox, 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, May 1, 2012 at the Bradford County Manor, Burlington Twp., with his loving wife Shirley by his side.
Edward was born Dec. 4, 1921 in Sayre, the son of the late Howard and Hennretta McMorran Lenox.
Edward lived his entire life in the Ulster area. He operated the family farm until 1968 and then was employed by Agway until his retirement. Edward served as Ulster Township supervisor for 41 years. Edward enjoyed visiting with all he encountered, especially friends and neighbors. His love for gardening was evident to all, spending many summers sharing his produce at various outdoor markets.
Edward had a deep love for his family finding great joy in time spent with each one.
Edward is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Shirley Davidson Lenox; children, Gary (Shirley) Lenox of Ulster, Elizabeth Baker of Elmira, N.Y., Karen (Randy) Robinson of Gillett and James Jeffery (Lisa) Lenox of Ulster; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Charles Smith.
In addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his son, Duane, daughter, Diana Smith and son-in-law David Baker, two great-granddaughters, sisters Winifred Betts and Dorothea Huff, brother Leroy Lenox and brother-in-law Richard Huff.
Edward's family would like to thank the staff of the Bradford County Manor for their loving care.
The funeral and committal service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the Bowen-Farr Funeral Home, 6 Farr Street, Ulster, with Pastor Robert Wuethrich, of the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church, and Pastor Sandy Brant, of the Ulster United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Interment will be private in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Ulster-Sheshequin Fire Association, in care of Karen Bixby, 1899 Ghent Hill Road, Ulster, PA 18850 in Edward's memory.
