Joanne Chapman Bidlack, 49
4/24/2012 8:59:00 AM
Joanne Chapman Bidlack, 49, of Ulster, fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past seven years. On April 22, 2012, her battle ended but her life was full. Joanne was born Sept. 11, 1963 in Johnson City, N.Y., the daughter of Earl and Lucille Johnson Chapman. Before settling in Ulster, Joanne lived with her family in Florida and Johnson City, N.Y. Joanne graduated from SRU High School in 1981 and Elmira Business Institute in 1983. She immediately began her career with the law firm of Davis, Murphy and Niemic followed by eleven years with Penelec in Towanda. She subsequently concentrated on managing the administrative needs for Bidlack & Sons and raising her sons. Joanne married Duane Bidlack on May 12, 1989 and they had three sons, Chase Austin (deceased), Jarrett Bruce and Reed Charles. Joanne's boys were her reason for living.

While her sons were attending school, she enjoyed volunteering at the Sheshequin-Ulster Elementary School. She served as PTO president and organized many yearbook projects and book fair events. She also enjoyed walking and DIY projects at her home.

Joanne successfully coached an all-star team to a second place finish at the state finals. In addition, she coached boys and girls basketball at St. Agnes School for two years.

Joanne is survived by Duane Bidlack; sons Jarrett Bruce Bidlack and Reed Charles Bidlack; parents Earl and Lucille Chapman; sisters Cindy Drew and husband Scott and Susan Shuler; brothers Earl Chapman Jr. and wife Renay and Tracey Chapman and wife Paula; mother-in-law Leona Tubbs and husband Carlton; father-in-law, Bruce Bidlack; sister-in-law, Robin Reylea and fiancé Dana Baldwin; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joanne was predeceased by her son, Chase Austin; grandparents and special grandparent, "Old Papa"; nephew Drew Chapman and stepmother-in-law Dora Bidlack.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, New Albany.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
