Joyce L. Janowsky, age 78, of Gillette, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
The family will receive friends and relatives from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 20 at the Chemung Christian Fellowship Church, 726 Main St., Chemung, NY 14825. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor Randy Stilson officiating. The committal service and burial will be held at Hanlon Hill Cemetery.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Fritz "Junior" Janowsky; sons, Ivan and William Janowsky; three grandchildren, Jason, Kara, and Max Janowsky; one great-grand-daughter, Tayia Janowsky; and brothers and sisters, Florence (Harold) Langeland, Norman Chandler (Ellen Wolcott), Delores (Ora) Whipple, Robert (Lila) Chandler, Mary Foster and Dale (Leona) Chandler.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alva and Louisa Chandler, grandson Jorden, and five brothers and sisters, Asa Chandler, Albert Chandler, Annamae Waltman, Betty Bubacz, Alva Chandler Jr., and Sarah Bargesser.
Joyce was a loving and caring person. She was a devout bingo player and loved playing cards. She was a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose - Horseheads Chapter No. 1832 and the Ridgebury Sportsman Club. Memorial donations in Joyce's memory may be made her church.
