Robert E. Hoffa, 80

Robert E. Hoffa, 80, of Oriskany, N.Y. passed on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Hartford, N.Y.

Robert was born on May 20, 1931 in New Albany, a son of the late Howard and Harriett Orlowski Hoffa.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served from April 1952 until April 1956 as an aircraft mechanic. In December 1954 he married Stella Sitas in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mildred and they celebrated 57 years together. Robert was an aircraft mechanic for 35 years retiring in 1993 from US Airways.

Robert attended Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hartford and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Mildred. He was a former member of the McDermott American Legion Post 452 of Mildred, and a member of the International Association of Mechanists Union. He enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and repairing automobiles.

He is survived by his wife Stella at home; a son Thomas R. Hoffa of Oriskany, N.Y.; a daughter Barbara M. and Robert Johnson of Blossvale, N.Y.; a grandson Brandon E. Scalise of Oriskany N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Hoffa.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Mildred with Rev. Robert Kaltenbaugh, pastor, officiating. Family and friends are invited to view from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter St., Dushore PA 18614, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church in Mildred.

Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the American Legion and the U.S. Air Force.
