Derek Bonnell, 23

Derek Bonnell of Cogan Station, Pa., passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was 23 years old.

Derek Ray, "Duke" Bonnell was born on Sept. 20, 1988, in Williamsport. He was a son of Michael Budd of New Jersey and Betty Bonnell (Eric Pennington) of Cogan Station and the devoted father of Alivia Toni Marie Bonnell. In earlier years, Duke enjoyed wrestling in school.

He loved being outdoors enjoying nature, especially four-wheeling and riding motorcycles. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Most recently, Derek was employed in the natural gas industry. He was a social member of Montgomery's American Legion.

In addition to his parents and daughter he leaves behind a brother, Steven Mayer of Ralston; grandmothers Bonnie Austin and Ann Bryington, both of Ralston; grandfather Ray (Kristy) Bonnell of Montgomery; special aunt and uncles Bonnie Bonnell and James Austin III, both of Ralston and Donald Bonnell of Montgomery; the mother of his daughter Felicia Reynolds of Montgomery; half sisters and a half brother Sophia, Stephanie and Mike Budd Jr.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was predeceased by his sister Toni Marie Bonnell; his grandfather, James "Junior" Austin and great-grandparents, Harry and Velma Woodward.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., in Canton. His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Pensdale Cemetery .
