Bradford County to Receive Grant for Recycling Expenses

HARRISBURG, PA -– Bradford County will receive more than $30,000 from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to help with the costs associated with its recycling programs, Reps. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) and Matt Baker (R-Bradford/Tioga) said today.
The grant will be used to reimburse 50 percent of the costs relating to the salary and expenses of the county’s recycling coordinator.
Most of the county’s recycling programs are coordinated in conjunction with the Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority in Bradford, Sullivan and Tioga counties.
“Residents along the Northern Tier are very cognizant of protecting our environment, and recycling plays a major role in keeping trash out of landfills,” Pickett said. “Numerous recycling programs exist – from curbside recycling in more populated areas to drop-off locations and computer and electronics recycling – and this is all because of the concerted effort by our local communities and financial support from the Commonwealth.”
“I am proud to live in a region so devoted to good stewardship of the land and its resources, and appreciate everyone’s cooperation in making recycling a part of their everyday lives,” said Baker. “I know this funding will go a long way in helping the county continue the great recycling programs it has implemented throughout the county.”
The funding is made possible through the County Recycling Coordinator Grant Program, which was created in 1988.
