Kenneth J. Wizelman, 63

Kenneth J. Wizelman, 63, of Asylum Township, Pa., died Saturday evening, April 9, 2011 at his home.

Before he died, Ken wrote the following to be part of his obituary.

"I knew better but smoked two to three packs a day for forty-three years and got cancer and it killed me. I was not an addict when I was born on July 12, 1947, but by the end of my first pack of cigarettes in August 1965 I was hooked. Please quit now while you still have a chance."

Born in Gettysburg, Pa., Ken was the son of the late Leon and Bette Outwater Wizelman.

He graduated from Towanda High School in 1965 and from Temple University with a degree in economics in 1970. Following college graduation, he was the manager of the Yellow Unicorn Boutique in Philadelphia whose customers included Jimi Hendrix, members of the Who, and Kris Kristofferson. Ken returned to Towanda in 1971 to be owner/manager in the family business of Outwater Pontiac-Cadillac, Inc. until it was sold in 1992. He later began an American Veterans Post, known as AMVETS Post No. 187 in Asylum Township.

Ken is survived by his daughter, Star Gubbiotti and husband Mark; granddaughter, Ava Jane Gubbiotti of Noxen, Pa.; stepson, Michael Miller; brother, Todd Wizelman and wife Belle of Wyalusing, Pa.; sister, Leslie Wizelman of Lake Wesauking; stepmother, Clara McNeal Wizelman of Wysox; several stepbrothers and stepsisters and their families; good friends, Sheldon Llewelyn and Richard Scott; many good friends too numerous to name and his faithful dog, Elvis.

Friends and Family are invited to a memorial service to be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with the Rev. Robert Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Ken's family will provide flowers and requests that memorial contributions please be directed to AMVETS Post No. 187, in care of Richard Dykeman, 97 Echo Beach Road, Towanda, PA 18848 in Ken's memory.
