George E. Oldroyd, 86, a lifelong resident of Gillett, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010.
He is survived by sons; Dennis (Nancy) Oldroyd, Charles (Lori) Oldroyd, and Scott (Marla) Oldroyd; grandchildren; Charles (Amy) Oldroyd Jr., Jared( Laura) Oldroyd, Jess (Lisa) Oldroyd, Jennifer (Scott Hamilton) Oldroyd, Lindsay (Alan Miniaci) Oldroyd, Brent Phillips, Robert, Marcus and Matthew Oldroyd; great-grandchildren: Lauren Oldroyd and Jess Michael Oldroyd and a host of family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce Strong Oldroyd; brother Carl Oldroyd; and sisters-in-law Phyllis Oldroyd and Elizabeth Scheufele.
George was the owner/operator of Oldroyd & Son truckstop in Gillett, Pa. He also worked and retired from ACI Supply in Elmira N.Y. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No, 306, Troy, Pa.; The Valley of Williamsport Consistory; Cashmere Grotto Elmira, N.Y.; and the Fassett Baptist Church.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday Feb. 9, 2010 at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira/Southport with a Masonic Service there at 4 p.m. Tuesday. the funeral and committal services will immediately follow the Masonic Service. The Reverend Donald Rockwell will officiate. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Gillett Cemetery, Gillett, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fassett Baptist Church
