Mr. Warren L. Goodwin, age 82, of RR 1 Box 215, Mehoopany, Pa. (Jenningsville), passed away at his home in Windham Township, on Sunday evening, Sept. 14, 2008, surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 6, 1926, in Jenningsville, in Forkston Township, the son of the late Charles R. and Grace M. Kithcart Goodwin. His entire life was spent in the Jenningsville area. He would eventually marry the former Bernice Lucy Robinson on June 11, 1949, a neighbor girl, shortly after her graduation from high school. They were married for 58 years, until she passed away on Aug. 16, 2007. Warren and Bernice would run her family farm, Hockey Pond Farm, which is still being operated by their son and his family.

Besides running his dairy farm, Warren would also drive log trucks for Ed Stone of Forkston, Pa., and he was also a school bus driver for the Mehoopany School District.

In his early years, Warren was a great baseball player, playing for many teams in and around the Mehoopany, Meshoppen, and Vernon areas. In his later years, he enjoyed his spare time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a long time member of the Jenningsville United Methodist Church, serving for many years as a trustee.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Shirley Goodwin of Jenningsville, Pa. and his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Glenn Clauser of Macungie, Pa. Also, his six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, as well as a special niece, Ginny, and her husband, Marvin Adams, of Stowell, Pa.; many brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws; and several nieces and nephews, survive.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis Goodwin, Edward Goodwin and Robert Goodwin, and two sisters, Elizabeth Day and Avis Riley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at the Jenningsville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jean Swett of the church officiating. Interment will be in the North Flat Cemetery, in Laceyville, Pa. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, at the Sheldon Funeral Home on Main Street in Laceyville, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to the Jenningsville United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Cindy Robinson, RR 1 Box 226, Mehoopany, PA 18629.
