John Zepkowski, 80

One the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, Canton resident John Zepkowski passed away quietly at the Highlands in Laporte. He was 80 years of age.

Born in Pringle, Pa., on Oct. 1, 1926, he was the son of Thomas and Victoria Zepkowski.

Endowed with a strong worth ethic, John was employed for many years at the Ward Foundry in Blossburg, taking on a multitude of tasks. He served our country during World War II. In private, John was a quiet, unassuming man who enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer.

He is survived by: his brother, Michael Zepkowski of Clifton Springs, N.Y., sisters, Sophia Wilkinson of Maryland, Tessie Szubka of Florida and Fairene Payne of Horseheads, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends Leona Jenkins and Mary Brown.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Johnson and Jane Golick, and brother, Stanley Zepkowski.

Viewing will be Saturday, Dec. 9, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Morse & Kleese Funeral Home Inc., 40 N. Center St., Canton. Services and committal will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Duane Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Grover Cemetery.
