Sarah A. Hoyt, 83, of New Albany, PA

Sarah A. Hoyt, age 83, of New Albany R.R. 2, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Highlands Nursing Home in Laporte, Pa.

She was born on April 21, 1919 in Towanda, Pa., a daughter of the late Edwin and Evangeline Crandall.

She has a been a resident of the New Albany area since she was 25 years old.

Sarah is a graduate of the Mansfield Teaching School, and began teaching in the Oak Hill School, after the Wyalusing School District was formed she taught for a short time for the Laceyville Elementary School and then later taught for the Wyalusing giving 33 years of service.

Mrs. Hoyt was a member of the New Era United Methodist Church, and was an active member and served in various positions within the church. She was also a member of the New Albany Community Club.

In 1992, she was preceded in death by her husband the late H. Dean Hoyt.

She enjoyed flowers and gardening, and time spent in the out of doors. She also enjoyed doing handcrafts, reading and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her children: Edwin and Sharon Hoyt of Cooper City, Fla., Frederick and Judy Hoyt, of Rowley, Mass., Susan and Robert Turnbull, of Damascus, Md., W. Reese and Kim Hoyt, of Rockwell, N.C., August and Gwen Durante, of Berwyn, Pa., Roger Hoyt and Beverly Wood of New Albany, Pa., Terry and Marlea Hoyt, of New Albany, Pa.; by her 15 grandchildren: Mark, Loreen, Brett, Corin, David, Adam, Robert, Dean Christopher, Sarah, August, III, Shawn, Kylie, Tera and Kelly; and by two great-grandchildren: Kacey and Kara.

In addition to her parents and husband H. Dean Hoyt, she was also preceded in death by a son David Hoyt in 1990; and by sisters Maureen Jones and Electra Powell.

Funeral and committal services will be held on Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter Street, Dushore, PA, with the Rev. Robert Hockenberry, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating.

Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, in the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, Dushore, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
