Gertrude M. Twigg, 90, of RR #1, Box 442, Athens, PA passed away Friday December 20, 2002 at the Robert Packer Hospital.
Born March 22, 1912 in Waverly, NY the daughter of John J. and Pauline Erwin Dunning, she attended Sayre High School. She worked for 40 years for the Blue Swan Mills as a sewing machine operator. Gertrude was a member of the Litchfield United Methodist Church.
Gertrude was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Twigg, in 1956 and her second husband, N. Bruce Twigg in December 20, 1998, her sisters, Lena Mae Salisbury, Auralia and Esther, her brothers, Gordon, Clifford and Robert.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Twigg, of Pinehurst, NC, three grandchildren, Scott, Darren and Jill. She is also survived by her stepsons and their spouses. Allen and Barbara Twigg of Chambersburg, PA; Jesse Twigg of Altamonte Springs, FL; Harvey and Lois Twigg. Of Nichols, NY; Cecil and Velma Twigg of Groton, NY; Daniel and Judy Twigg of Rochester, NY and Larry and Kay Twigg of Odenton, MD. Her stepdaughters and their spouses, Marilyn Swingle of Athens, PA and Nancy and Bob Campbell of Sheshequin, PA, 29 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren. Her brothers, John and Doris Dunning of Clifton Springs, NY and Donald Dunning of Waverly, NY; her sister, Juanita West of Waverly, NY, several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday January 4, 2003 at 11:00a.m. at the Litchfield United Methodist Church, Litchfield, PA, with Lay Pastor Jon Austin officiating.
Burial was in the Nichols Cemetery, Nichols, NY
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Litchfield United Methodist church, c/o Norma Barrowcliff, 112 Plummer St., Sayre, PA 18840.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lowery Funeral Home, Athens, PA.
