Gordon A. Norton, age 89, of Forksville, RR 1, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1912 in Forksville, Pa., a son of the late Ira and Agnes Worthington Norton.
Gordon married the former Beatrice Rinker Norton, and they've celebrated 68 years of marriage.
Prior to his retirement in 1977 he was employed by the Pennsylvania State Game Commission as Game Commissioner giving 25 years of service. Mr. Norton had been engaged in dairy farming and had formerly worked for a couple of telephone companies.
His memberships include: life member of the National Rifle Association, and the Hillsgrove Fish and Game Club.
He has been a lifetime resident of Sullivan County.
Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Rinker Norton, at home; three sons, Duane R. Norton of Tunkhannock, Pa., Nevin A. Norton of Springville, Pa. and Dennis G. Norton of Wyoming, Pa. a brother Wayne S. Norton, of San Pablo, Cal. and his 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Gary Norton; a grandson G. Scott Norton; and by three brothers, John, Clyde and Archie Norton and by a sister Ruth.
Funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter Street, Dushore, Pa. with the Rev. Ed Simmons, pastor of the Lemon United Methodist Church.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at McHenry Funeral Home in Dushore, from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral service.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Pennsylvania Division, Inc. P.O. Box 3125, Williamsport, Pa. 17001-0125l or Guthrie Hospice, RR 1, Box 154, Towanda, Pa. 18848, in Mr. Norton's Memory.
